Hell yes.
As a photographer, I pride myself on having a head full of pretty unique engagement photo locations for my couples. I take time every few weeks to drive around the city and scope out new and interesting spots for these portraits, and no matter what vibe you have in mind, I bet I have the perfect location that will fit the bill.
Unique places for your engagement photos
One thing I love to do is photograph my couples at locations that are unique or special to them. Maybe you had your first date in a local coffee shop, or you got to know your partner while hiking with them around the state.
I always get to know my couples a bit before their engagement session; it gives me lots of ideas for locations that will be meaningful and feel so YOU during your session. Nowhere is off-limits here! I’ve photographed couples in ice cream shops, bars, record stores, breweries – you name it. If you’re looking for a unique engagement photo location, I’ve got you covered.
Take a look through this list for some of OKC’s best engagement photo locations! I break it down by my favorite city engagement photo locations, my favorite outdoor locations, and a few of my favorite neighborhoods and locations a bit off the beaten path.
Best engagement photo locations with a city feel
Bricktown
Bricktown has some of my favorite locations for murals, brick walls, amazing skyline views, and downtown charm! It’s super walkable and has a ton of variety for portraits. I love catching the sunset in this part of the city. So many unique engagement photo spots with interesting textures and light!
Midtown
Midtown OKC is one of the BEST engagement photo locations for me! So many cute little nooks with great light and color, cool foodie spots, and amazing rooftops to explore with your partner!
Downtown OKC
Just a bit further south of Midtown, the heart of OKC’s financial area boasts sprawling skylines, neat parking garages, and tons of neat spots for an upbeat, urban vibe for your engagement session.
Best engagement photo locations with skyline views of OKC
Like I mentioned above, I really pride myself on scoping out the best locations for my couples, and I LOVE finding a great location to see the OKC skyline. As you can see, I have quite a few go-to areas where you can see OKC’s cityscape for your engagement photos, from all different angles! If the city vibe is so your style and you’d love to watch a famous OKC sunset with your partner as the city lights come up, I’d love to show you around!
Best outdoor engagement photo spots in OKC
Myriad Botanical Gardens
If you love plants, greenery, giant greenhouses, and the most picnic-able lawns… this one’s for you! Myriad Gardens is a great spot in the heart of OKC with so much variety for your engagement photos. It’s lush and well-kept year-round, but the spring (April-June) and fall (September-October) are absolutely the prime times to enjoy this beautiful park for your engagement session!
Lake Hefner
Man, I LOVE Lake Hefner for unique engagement photos! I’ve got a few regular spots I love exploring and I love discovering new tiny beaches and coves all around the lake! This spot is perfect for romantic, lakeside photos, and it’s one of the best spots for engagement photos in OKC for sunsets, hands down! There’s a lot of natural variety around here, from the rocky water’s edge to small, secluded beaches. If you’re wanting an engagement photo location by the water, this is it!
Martin Nature Park
Martin Nature Park is like a little slice of serenity surrounded by the city. Its 1.6 mile loop walking trail will take you past wildflower fields, tree-covered paths, and a little stream that feels like you’re in the red rocks!
Will Rogers Gardens
I think this place is a hidden gem. There are also many little hidden gems within it that I love exploring! Lots of green fields, a pretty greenhouse, pretty stone steps, and in the springtime: TONS of beautiful blooms! It’s right off 36th and I240, but feels like a little oasis in the city! You can even have your wedding on the park grounds at the beautiful Ed Lycan Conservatory. If you want to see some inspiration, check out a wedding I photographed inside the park’s greenhouse, here!
Best neighborhoods in OKC for engagement photos
Mesta Park / Heritage Hills
The manicured lawns, polished sidewalks, grown trees, and charming homes in the area make it one of my favorite neighborhoods for engagement sessions. It’s quaint, quiet, and great for a romantic stroll during your session.
Paseo Arts District
The Paseo is full of quirky architecture, art, and plenty of colorful space!
Plaza District
Strolling through the Plaza District, you’ll find pizza, burgers, murals, bars, and plenty of eclectic shops. It’s a cute neighborhood that’s perfect for a low-key evening for your session with plenty of fun activities to pack in!
