December is always my biz reflection time. This is also the time of year when allllllll of the big yearly photography awards are announced. And while I’m really stoked for my peers to be recognized, this all kind of feeds my already high end-of-the-year-I-can’t-do-this-I’m-not-good syndrome. It makes me feel like I haven’t made much progress in my own biz. So this year, instead of choosing to feel bummed that I haven’t won any contests I entered in 2022, I am awarding MYSELF my own award. So I’m now excited to share this: I was nominated by myself for Best New Elopement Photographer in My House and I WON! This is an honor. And it makes me feel good, so don’t ask questions about the nomination process! I DID IT!

I am not trying to shit on photography awards. I love them, participate in them, and want to celebrate the winners -- they deserve it every bit. But this year, for myself, I want to just be proud that I made it another entire year in my business – I made my clients happy, showed up, worked very hard, and made huge steps to my next year’s goals. I am sure you did too. So, I made a batch of trophies for YOU, my friends. Pick your award and BE PROUD of yourself! YOU DID IT! WE DID IT!

As your photographer, I NEVER want you to feel sorry. I never want you to be worried about making things perfect for my camera. I want to make you feel safe and supported and ensure you LOVE your day no matter what you are doing! As you’re wedding planning, I'm sure you feel pressure to be “picture perfect” or to make your day cute, adventurous, wild, or to “fit” in with what’s on Instagram, TikTok, or big wedding blogs. As long as it *feels* perfect for you two, it *will* be picture-perfect.
